The first book in the Verdantia series, Hers to Command by Patricia A. Knight will take you on a sizzling-hot ride that will leave you breathless and yearning for more! Hers to Command is in my Book Central spotlight today.
BLURB:
For some, existence without their mate might seem like the end of their world...for the members of Verdantia’s Tetriarch, it would be.
Conte Camliel Aristos deTano, Ari, has long spurned the marriage forced upon him. His contractual bride, Princess Fleur Constante, the beautiful future queen though young and inexperienced, is willing to risk everything, including her own sanity, to save her planet.
The inhabitants of the sentient planet, Verdantia, are poised on the precipice of extinction following a brutal invasion by an off-world, nomadic horde. Verdantia’s capital, Sylvan Mintoth, must have its failing energy shield restored, or the planet is doomed. The Elders know the shield can draw energy from only one thing-a very arduous and grueling coupling of two specific people who were pre-chosen by the planet Herself and promised by prearranged marriage contract.
Verdantia draws strength from the duo, but the sentient planet whispers to Ari that a third is necessary ~ Ari’s aide de camp, Visconte Doral deLorion, an angelically handsome, skilled assassin who silently surrendered his heart to Ari long ago.
The trio struggles to make this surprising partnership harmonious, pushing through pride, scars of past abuse, fears of inexperience and distrust. To save Verdantia, they must overcome their individual weaknesses and realize their full potential. Only the tetriarch and their combined synergy, can harness Verdantia’s immense power to shield its citizens from invasion.

5-STARS - "Marvelous Surprise!!" by Kim
I loved this book! I wasn't expecting to like it, much less love it, what a pleasant surprise. It took me a chapter or two to get into the story and get straight the "otherworldliness" of the story but once I got past that I was completely hooked. The characters were so well written, so complete, that I didn't experience that feeling of "hmmmm...now how did that come to be" because all of the lead characters as well as the backing characters were so full. I really can't say enough good things about this book, what a marvelous surprise!
5-STARS - "Excellent Read" by Lynelle
An excellent read, good plot and well written book. Filled with enough passion to scorch the sheets and the heart racing. Erotica filled moments but yet filled with tenderness from both men, Ari and Doral. This story will keep you at the edge, turning pages rapidly to see the end. The thought that three people can come together to save a planet, and its people sounded ridiculous, but I think the author created a wonderful story within the plot. Fleur, the young princess controlling but yet loving the two men with equal fascination. Creating a wonderful love story at the end. Each character well defined and believable through out.
Three people coming together because of their genetics, falling in love and you see how they protect each other, willing to die for each other. The honesty of each as they relay their hearts to one another believable and beautiful. Especially Darol's character captured my attention. His abusive past, his believe of worthlessness so that he avoided being close to the ones he love, touched me.
The supporting characters help to build the plot as each scene unfolds, keeping it exciting and entertaining.
Can't wait for book two.
5-STARS - "Fast-Paced Erotic Journey" by Elizabeth S.
I read this book very quickly, as the pacing is wonderful. It's a fun ride with three main characters, all of whom are strong and have a clear cut purpose. At first, I thought it was about saving a planet, Verdantia. But, it becomes much more. It is as much the characters' journeys as the story of protecting a race and culture.
The author did not use miscommunication as the tension between the characters. (Thank you!) Rather, the characters upped the ante for each other through love, understanding and lots of sex and lovemaking. It is erotica, after all!
The female lead is refreshingly strong - from the beginning. And, the twists and turns they must take are interesting and fun. Highly recommended book!
5-STARS - "I Want More!" by Yelle Hughes
I really enjoyed Patricia Knight's new SciFi Verdantian series. I hope I don't give out too many spoilers. There were some similarities to me that reminded me of the Bene Gesserit breeding program and the Arrakean spice from Dune, but that's were the similarities end.
Patricia has created an entire new world, with fresh characters and a mix between medieval weapons to magical conjuring. While I really liked the two main characters, Ari and Fleur...I loved Ari's right hand man and deadly assassin, Doral. He was mysterious, dangerous and oh, so delicious to read.
The world of Verdantia is ruled by sex and sex is needed to provide it's people protection from it's enemies. The erotic scenes were shall I just say...HOT!
For those with hangups on m/f/m or m/m...read it, you just might like it. The next novel in the series 'Hers to Choose' is now available and I'm definitely going to read that one. Doral's sister is the heroine and if she's written anything like him...I just don't have the words.
5-STARS - "What a wild ride!" by pking
This book was so much fun~ and such a wild ride, can I go again? I must admit I was a little lost in the beginning, but I soon caught up and let me tell you, I did not want to put it down. Right away you know that this planet is singular in many ways, and that the inhabitants are not conventional in there manner of creating and maintaining energy. I like that the author gave you this to start with, but I think it was lost on me until the real story began, and I could put it into context. I have to say I love fantasy, and although I don't read erotica often, I found it to be such a fun way to elevate the fantastical-ness of this space adventure. The characters are loveable, and the conflict feels personal, that is what I want from a good romance story, and that is what I got. If you love fantasy, adventure, and romance you will enjoy this book...(the steamy erotic scenes help a lot too)
O'LEARY'S REVIEW ON GOODREADS:
4-Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed Hers to Command by Patricia A. Knight. This story is a great scifi erotic/romantic read with believable characters, smoothly written prose, and wonderfully inventive details. I didn't absolutely love the characters and their interactions, which is the only reason this book gets a 4 instead of a 5-Star rating from me.
Hers to Command has been on my TBR shelf for a while and I can't believe it took me this long to read it. If you've been thinking about getting this book, stop thinking and start reading! I recommend this to all scifi/erotica/romance lovers who also enjoy menage, M/M, and minor BDSM elements.

"Victorious Star" by Morgan Hawke
"Victorious Star" by Morgan Hawke mixes stellar sci-fi action with sizzling hot erotica, a masterfully written adventure that's bound to keep you flipping pages and squirming in your seat...
BLURB:
Genre: Science Fiction; BDSM/Fetish
Series: Interstellar Service & Discipline; Next Book: Fallen Star
Victoria Stark is an Imperial Navigations Pilot known among the sentient battleships as the Victorious Star—for sacrificing her captains to save her ships. Strong-willed and resourceful, she has never lost a ship she's flown—and never serviced a captain she's had.
Captain Ravnos of the Mercenary dreadnaught Hellsbreath rules his crew with an iron will. First Officer Seht is a skeldhi prince whose specialty is erotic discipline. They're on a mission, and in need of a nav-pilot.
Kidnapped into service on the Hellsbreath, Victoria is caught between two very different men locked in their own private and erotic power struggle. And then there's the mission…
The Moribund Company has captured the Imperial Dreadnaught Arcane, and intends to auction the sentient ship to the highest bidder. Unfortunately, Moribund himself is attending the auction and Ravnos is forced to remain onboard the Hellsbreath for Moribund has a personal vendetta against the handsome captain. It is up to Victoria and First Officer Seht to go deep undercover at the Mordred Space Station to rescue the Arcane.
To complete the mission and return to her duties as an Imperial Officer, Victoria must become Prince Seht's rehkyt—a pet, literally and figuratively. Not allowed on the furniture and kept at the end of a leash, Victoria discovers that there are worse things than servicing your captain. Or are there?
Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM (including bondage, domination/submission, whipping), menage (m/m/f), and homoerotic sexual situations (m/m, f/f).
AMAZON REVIEWS:
5-STARS - "Intense" by Nice
The story was brutal, sexy, and exciting. It had engaging characters and intriguing world-building. It was very intense, and not for everybody, but I loved it. I actually bought it on the strength of one of the lowest reviews... what offends one reader might be attractive to another.
5-STARS - "Great Story + Dubcon/Capture Fantasy" by Lina Sacher
4.5 Hot Capture Fantasy Stars
I picked up this book based on a recommendation from someone who really understood my love for dub con and and sexy aliens. And this story was like hitting the jackpot in sex scenes – they were seriously hot (like one-handed reading every time hot) and plentiful. But even as plentiful as the sex scenes were, I didn’t think they was too much (maybe just a little) and they worked well with the story – serving a purpose in the overall plot.
The plot was interesting, it definitely had my attention and I really wanted to keep turning the pages to learn what would happen next (and no, not just because I wanted to get to the next sex scene). There was a deeper theme – a theme that explored honor and love.
I liked the heroes. Hardass as they were, they had reasons for everything they did, even the things that seemed callous and harsh at first glance. They were also ridiculously sexy and dominant and possessive in all the ways that made all my girly bits tingle. I liked the heroine as well. She was strong, opinionated, and feisty.
There was so much awesome with this book that I really, really wanted to give it a full five stars (hearts), but I couldn’t do it because the writing itself was a bit distracting at some points. Stuff like having the word “snorted” appearing 104 times. Not so distracting that I didn’t enjoy the book. Actually, I enjoyed the story thoroughly and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys dubious consent and science fiction, hot BDSM and sex – M/F, M/M/F, M/M, and F/F – all the possible variations are present here. All single-hand-reading worthy.
5-STARS - "Excellent Series" by Pat
Really good story. I really liked that Victoria was so tough and strong. Enjoyed the interactions with Ravnos and Seht. I wish we could see more of these three!
I am hopping over the second in the series to the prequel that that tells how Ravnos and Seht got together, then I'll come back to read the second.
5-STARS - "Yay!" by Tracy
I loved this book!! This was the first of its "type" I ever picked up and boy did it blow my socks off (and my mind and a few other things too). Not for the faint of heart but great for a sci-fi loving kink curious girl like me! Thanks Ms. Morgan Hawke, look forward to reading more from you!
5-STARS - "Love Morgan Hawke" by ReaLee A. Mercier
I have read this whole series as ebooks on my computer and loved them so much I had to have them for the Kindle. Cannot say enough good things about this author and the fantasy books she writes.
5-STARS - "Excellent BDSM SF" by Cheap and Lazy
I haven't found much decent erotic SF, even less for BDSM, so this was a rare and much enjoyed treat. The world building is detailed and superior, with a really good and believable plot. It's not highly romantic, nor is it PC (politically correct) BDSM, as another viewer here noted. In fact, it's on the darker end of this genre. But it does well there, and the sex, though frequent, never overwhelms the story. I read the prequel, Lost Star, and enjoyed that as well, even though m/m is not my favorite. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series, Fallen Star, though it doesn't appear to involve any of the characters in the first two.
5-STARS - "Great Beach Read" by Nicole
Where have I been? Who knew futuristic sci-fi is the perfect vehicle for some very kinky relationships? I guess I need to expand my mind and start looking to the stars! Other reviews have commented on how 'brutal' the action in this book is. I respectfully disagree. I found the complex relationship between Victoria, Seht and Ravnos to be incredibly erotic. I suppose if what you normally read is set in some contemporary BDSM club, complete with all the requisite rules and guidelines to ensure no one ever forgets they are playing game then this might seem extreme to you. Honestly, that is why I usually pass up the contemporary books for ones set in some paranormal or urban environment. What I loved about this book is how well written it is. If you are like me and struggle to find great authors in the erotic genre, this 3-part series suggests that Morgan Hawke is a good bet.
O'LEARY'S REVIEW ON GOODREADS:
4-STARS
Even though parts of this book weren't my cup of tea (I'm not a fan of forced or non-consensual sex), I thoroughly enjoyed this erotic sci-fi read. The author did a stellar job with world-building and storyline, the writing itself was gratifyingly smooth and flowing, and the sex was explode-your-kindle hot! The relationship between the two males (who were already an established couple) and the female Victoria seemed a little abrupt to me, jumping from raging lust to love like a ship lurching into hyper-drive, but I could shrug past that in light of how much enjoyment and fun I gained from the rest of this great adventure. I highly recommend!

"Frost Maiden" (Space Lords Series) by Michelle M. Pillow
Michelle M. Pillow is my new hero. Not only do her series have series, but she writes in a wide range of romantic genres--futuristic, paranormal, historical, contemporary, and fantasy to name a few. Frost Maiden is the first book in her latest series involving the Dragon Lords (previous series' are: Dragon Lords, Lords of the Var, and Zhang Dynasty), futuristic romances with serious heat!
(Don't read these in a PG setting. It will not go well.)
BLURB:
Empath and space pirate, Evan Cormier is obsessed with decoding an ominous premonition about his future. When a fellow crewman angered a spirit, the vengeful Zhang An took her wrath out on everyone in the vicinity. Evan just happened to be one of them. He's now facing a future in which he'll be forever alone.
Lady Josselyn of the House of Craven has been betrayed. With her home world on a Florencian moon under attack and her family dead, she finds herself at the mercy of the one who deceived them. There is only one thing left to do--die with honor. But before she can join her family in the afterlife, she must first avenge all that she held dear. Falling in love with a pirate was never in the plan. Evan and his thieving crewmates might have delayed her fate, but they can't stop destiny.
Rating: Contains graphic sexual content, adult language, and violence. This novel contains adult content. Must be 18 years or older to read.
AMAZON REVIEWS:
5-STARS - "Frost Maiden" by M. Nix
Lady Josselyn of the House of Craven fought for her family, home and life before being frozen in stone. Now she has been awaken into a new time and finds herself alone and feeling lost. Josselyn knows that before she dies, she must correct the wrongs done to her family and restore their honor.
Evan Cormier is an empath and a space pirate who is trying to figure out a foreboding premonition given to him and most of his crewmates. While working this out on the ship, his captain's wife discovers a very old box that gives a mysterious clue. A clue that just might lead to treasure; no pirate crew can resist checking out the information.
Evan is instantly captivated by Josselyn, but her inner pain might just be the end of him. He and the rest of the crew are trying to put Josselyn at ease in her new world, but when the crew believes that it's either Evan or Josselyn that can be saved, harsh steps are taken to separate them. Josselyn strikes out to regain her honor while Evan battles to show everyone that the only way he will ever be okay is to be rejoined with Josselyn, before its too late for both of them.
What if you woke up in a totally new world? In Frost Maiden, this happens to Lady Josselyn. Evan can't figure out how to shield himself from Josselyn's pain while trying to help her adjust. Josselyn is falling for Evan, but first she must reclaim her family's lost honor. Destiny had many things in store for Josselyn and death just wasn't one of them yet. I watched as Josselyn and Evan fell in love, but lack of communication endangered not only them but the crew. When it all fell apart, Evan was a true hero to save not only Josselyn, but himself and their budding love. Frost Maiden will keep you wondering and flipping pages, a bittersweet romance that will leave you smiling.
5-STARS - "La La Loved It" by MrsHappy
Maybe I didn't read the same book as everyone else but I thought this book was pretty awesome. I just wish the others in this series would come out soon. It's been nearly 2 yr and I'm still wandering what happened with the...hmm that might be a spoiler. Anywho, read this book, in spite of the reviews this wasn't a bad or just ok book. It was flipping great :) There is a HEA, but there are also other characters in this book who's story needs to be told already!!! Michelle M Pillow please don't leave me hanging much longer!!!! ;)
5-STARS - "Liked" by RealGoldrw
I enjoyed this new instalment too the series ,looks like more characters are on their way, looking forward to them,;) waiting,,,
5-STARS - "Relax and Enjoy!" by Berly
I am a big fan of Michelle Pillow in that the stars of her romance are intelligent and independent which of course causes conflict. She has an alpha male which you can't help but appreciate it. Add in a sci-fi twist with some steamy scenes and you have a book that enables you to escape from the every day for a few hours.
4-STARS - "Enjoyable" by Sara Egli
I have enjoyed the Lords of Var and the Dragon Lords series (Lords of Var was better in my opinion), so I figured the Pace lords would be good. I loved the crazy crew and how they interact with each other. The story flowed well and gave me a few surprises. Most importantly it made me forget my day and get lost in the book.

(Don't read these in a PG setting. It will not go well.)

When a fellow crewman angered a spirit, the vengeful Zhang An took her wrath out on everyone in the vicinity. Evan just happened to be one of them.

Michelle M Pillow please don't leave me hanging much longer!!!! ;)

"Lady of Luxembourg" by Vijaya Schartz
I have to give props to any author who can stick with a series and still make it shine. Award-winning author, Vijaya Schartz, has done that very thing with her Curse of the Lost Isle series. Book 4, Lady of Luxembourg, has yet to receive anything below a 5-Star rating on Amazon. And that's not all...along with writing extraordinary fantasy, Vijaya Schartz is also a writer of science fiction, medieval, and contemporary romance!
BLURB:
978 AD Melusine the Fae, immortal and cursed Lady of Luxembourg, managed to hide her Pagan nature from mortals for many years. She fiercely protects her handsome Count, Sigefroi, but in their princely bliss, neither of them seems to age, and a few suspicious bishops take notice. Then an ondine wreaks havoc during a battle, luring enemy soldiers into the river. Betrayed, Sigefroi reflects on his many sins from the depths of a rat infested dungeon. Under torture, will he reveal her deadly secret? And when her beloved turns into a devout Christian, can Melusine salvage her happiness? Can love truly redeem her curse, or will she burn at the stake?
AMAZON REVIEWS:
5-STARS - by Manic Readers
Schartz is a gifted writer in many genres, and the research she does for every book is phenomenal. Every detail is woven into the story seamlessly, so you feel as if you are really there, watching the horses, the fighting, the clothing, the lovemaking. Looking forward to the next volume.
5-STARS - "My Kind of Read!" by Janette Harjo
This book was so believable, it was like I Time/Traveled! It's a MUST READ! Run, don't walk to buy it!
5-STARS - "Utterly Compelling!" by Beverly J. Malloy
It was so easy to get drawn into this story. The main characters deal with keeping each other happy while dealing with bias, greed and fanatical religious dogma. You root for the couple and applaud how they outwit their enemies. The ending is both touching and bittersweet. If you enjoy loosing yourself in another time and place, as well as the mystical... This IS a MUST read!
5-STARS - "Another Winner!" by Virginia
Vijaya Schartz has outdone herself with this masterly crafted work of fiction. Enter the world of Melusinethe Fae,a pagan and Count Sigefroi, a Christian, as you travel back in time to the year 978 AD... and what a complex yet realistic world Ms. Schartz has created for the reader. Can a Pagan and a Christian reconcile there religious beliefs... will love conquer all? Find out for yourself and pick up this great read today.
5-STARS - "Fantastic" by Diane Sparks
I read the series one book after another to the 4th book Lady of Luxembourg. I have always been interested in the Melusine legends. This was a completely different story for Melusine she is in the 3rd and 4th book. The story of Pressine as far as I remember is consistent with the other legends except for the extremely romantic ending. I loved the series. Anyone who has heard of Melusine or Ladies of the Lost Isles, or interested in the era of King Arthur, or just loves a romantic historical novel will love this series. There is so much more to say but all I can say is read the books.

"Jade" by Rose Montague
With a gorgeous cover and fascinating storyline, Jade by Rose Montague is sure thing for paranormal romance lovers!
BLURB:
Jade is a little bit shifter, a little bit witch, a little bit Fae, a little bit vamp, and a whole lot of fun. Jade has arranged things so she is partnered with a shifter bear as police detectives on a big case involving vamps killing humans. There is some mystery to the book and many surprises. Jade's origins, where she came from and why she is here are revealed along the way. A lot of humor , action, and fun involving a visit to Faerie, assassination attempts, adventures in driving, a magical dagger, and a little romance happen along the way. By the end, much of the mystery and her beast is revealed, and her origins and background are explained. All of this with a good deal of humor and some real shockers along the way.
AMAZON REVIEWS:
5-STARS - "Worth the Read" by N. Nix
Pros: Rose Montague has a lot of imagination and over the course of this story, she used her creativity to weave an incredibly original story combining witches, fae, shifters, vampire, and even the mortal police. My favorite part about this book is that the supernatural world is known to one and all. There's no masquerade, no secrecy, and everything it out there in the open. I love the idea of a supernatural department at the local PD and the FBI.
Cons: I wasn't so cool with Jade being the mutt of the immortal world, but as I continued to read, the idea kind of grew on me, little by little. When the big secret comes out and you come to understand why Jade is such a mix of everything, there's a strange logic to it that excuses the mix of so many creatures.
All in all, I was entertained and that's ultimately what a book is intended to do. The story flows fast, the pacing is good, and the underlying murder mystery kept my interest.
5-STARS - "Phenomenal Adventure Ride" by Amazon Customer
When I started the book, Jade, I will tell you I had originally thought that I would not like it. It isn't my typical genre of book. However, after the first page I was hooked. The plot twists kept me on my toes and it was NEVER predictable. Just when I thought I had things figured out, I was proven wrong. I would say that this would make an excellent movie, and I really cannot wait for the follow up in the installment! I would definitely see Rose Montague having a successful career in the writing world. I would certainly read anything by her in the future.
5-STARS - "The Journey Is Just Beginning" by Elgon Williams
Rose Montague is someone I have not met in person. That never really matters between authors, though. You sort of expect to eventually meet the people you genuinely like right off the bat. Whether that happens depends on circumstance.
Between authors, there is an unspoken understanding of the courage and self-discipline a writer must have in order to finish a book let alone offer it for public scrutiny. I think Rose and I shared that connection from the start.
How I know her is from online book launch parties she and i attend from time to time. Also we know some of the same other authors. From those interactions I have come to appreciate her sense of humor and I know she is loyal to those she calls her friends. Those are qualities of greatness in character for both the person she is and the author she has become.
Jade is a book that I hope no reviewer spoils. It's adventurous in exploring some new ground and doesn't fit comfortably into a particular genre. That is a sign of greatness for a book, by the way. The plot has twists and turns as one would expect but they come exactly when they're unexpected leaving the reader to want for more. Whether you read it now and discover Rose as an author you will follow or you find it later on when some future offering captures your imagination enough that you seek out her previous works, you will eventually read it. The best time to read any good book is now, of course.
Sometimes the first book from an author define him or her. Other times it is a stone that is carried around our neck for a while as readers pigeon hole an author with a genre. Categories are saddles but when combined with unbridled imagination, the ride is nevertheless wild. Readers may believe they know what to expect from having read one books, so a first effort is important in establishing a mindset. But expecting the case of writing a first book in a series, a reader should approach every book from an author with an mind wide open and free of expectations.
First books open avenues for exploring a vast array of worlds we discover within us in the process of writing. Whatever it takes to write the first book, it becomes like a first child. In a way it is the outgoing, adventurous, brash, conceited older sibling the ones that follow both rely on and envy. It breaks through and establishes ever instance of tolerance from its father or mother and creates the space into which its brothers and sisters learn to grow and flourish.
First novels, then, as vital works but sometimes they prove to be not the best effort of an author, but instead only a good indication of what is to come. Since Jade is a first book, only time will tell what the sophomore and subsequent offerings will be.
Rose is writing the sequel to Jade. Sometimes those are the hardest books to write but usually they don't take as long as the first book to produce. So for those who want to read more about Jade, there is hope that it won't take too ling. The painstaking process of learning how to write can be dispensed with for the second time a writer goes at it. From there onward, writing is more about each book than the prospect of becoming published.
Books like Jade endear and author to core readers. It would be a travesty to read such a magical book that inspires us to dream as they read. A few readers may be transformed in the process and become aspiring writers willing to take their own risks to capture fantasy worlds and describe them to others on the written page.
5-STARS - "Wonderful New Paranormal World!" by TnT Reviews
How to write this review without any spoilers? Hmm. First of all, I absolutely loved it. I adored all the characters and the interactions between them. I loved the loyalty and support they gave to a new friend. This storyline was very unique and included all my favorite paranormal aspects. It had Fae, Witches, Shifters, and Vampires. This book also had everything I look for in a great story. Suspense, action, humor, and romance. The writing really flowed and was easy to follow. I found myself unable to put it down. I had to keep reading to find out how it would end. And when I got to the end, I found I wanted more. I can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful new adventure.
5-STARS - "A great book to spend the day reading" by Susan Stielow
In my opinion, Jade is a fast paced book with a unique mixture of characters that is sure to please even the pickiest of readers. I found that I really liked the many sides that the main character possesses, and how she uses the unique abilities that those sides give her. I'm looking forward to book 2, and reading about what happens next.
